TRAIL DANCE FILM FESTIVAL Duncan, Oklahoma USA January 24 to 25, 2014

7/30/2013

In the Spotlight today is the 8th Annual Trail Dance Film Festival, an incredible festival for networking and celebration that unfolds in an unforgettable, Western-themed environment. Nestled along the Old Chisholm Trail, and in the birthplace of Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard, Trail Dance offers four HD-ready venues that honor great works with some of the best screening environments available.

Participating filmmakers compete for Trail Dance's coveted Golden Drover Awards in an open-genre competition that draws talent from across North America. For two thrilling days, more than 100 truly independent films (with a budget cap of $5.5 million) will be screened, back-to-back-to-back, with some eye-opening Q&A sessions tossed in for good measure. Countless projects and big ideas have sprung from chance meetings at Trail Dance, and there's no telling what careers might blossom from this year's Old West fest. After all, Trail Dance's closing awards ceremony is broadcast online for the world to see.

Trail Dance has twice been named one of MovieMaker Magazine's "Coolest" film festivals on the circuit, and it's not hard for visitors to see why. Each year, a number of Trail Dance's Official Selections go on to secure distribution. Each film submitted receives four all-access passes to the festival, and festival visitors enjoy the convenience of a shuttle service to get around town. Complimentary or discounted filmmaker lodging is available on a first-come, first-served basis, but all Trail Dance guests receive a star's welcome as they drink in some of the best films on the festival circuit.

CAPITAL CITY
BLACK FILM FESTIVAL

Austin, Texas - USA
September 26 to 28, 2013
Upcoming Deadline: August 5, 2013

The 1st Annual Capital City Black Film Festival (CCBFF) provides burgeoning black filmmakers from across the United States with an exceptional platform on which to showcase their works in an unforgettable city. The festival not only celebrates the great cinematic talents of tomorrow, it educates gifted filmmakers about the wide range of resources available to them in the City of Austin -- and in Texas. In June 2013, The New York Times declared that this year is set to be "a breakout year for black films", and CCBFF is resolutely dedicated to leading in that effort. Feature films, docs, shorts, student projects, and music videos are all welcome at this high-spirited festival.

Panel discussions, screenings, industry networking events, and adrenaline-pumping parties make up just some of the CCBFF experience, all with the intent to increase and encourage diversity in the independent and mainstream marketplaces. If you've got a great project that adds an exciting new voice or color to the media landscape, CCBFF is here to embrace it and to connect you with other creative collaborators. Submit today!

NEW HAMPSHIRE
FILM FESTIVAL

Portsmouth, New Hampshire - USA
October 17 to 20, 2013
Upcoming Deadline: August 5, 2013

The 13th Annual New Hampshire Film Festival (NHFF) proudly presents the very best of independent film at four state-of-the-art screening venues in the gorgeous seacoast city of Portsmouth. Teeming with New England charm and camaraderie, NHFF quickly generates a small, close-knit community that makes networking a breeze. The prestige of the festival's extraordinary programming -- which includes features, documentaries, shorts, and home-grown New Hampshire indies -- lends significant clout to any filmmaker's resume and ensures a spectacular audience experience.

Five NHFF parties unfold throughout the four-day celebration, and every participating filmmaker is assured press attention. The result is a festival experience that can really turn heads towards incredible talents worthy of exposure and opportunity. Each award winner receives a distinctive, ten-pound, granite trophy (affectionately called "The Granny"), and the festival's screenplay winner will receive a two-week screenwriter's residency on Star Island, including accommodations, ferry transportation, and two lobster dinners for two. It's an extraordinary prize valued at $3,660 USD, but you can't get it if you don't enter!

SAN PEDRO
INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Los Angeles, California - USA
October 4 to 6, 2013
Upcoming Deadline: August 5, 2013

The 2nd Annual San Pedro International Film Festival (SPIFF) gathers remarkable films and filmmakers to enjoy gorgeous seaport surroundings in the heart of the entertainment industry. Last year, more than 50 features, documentaries, shorts, and student films were screened at SPIFF, including Academy Award nominated Silver Linings Playbook, which enjoyed its Los Angeles premiere at the festival and took home SPIFF's Best Feature Film Prize. Guests also enjoyed IndieCon, one of Hollywood's top-rated filmmaking workshop series, which last year included acclaimed screenwriter Larry Karaszewski (The People vs. Larry Flynt).

With a range of competitive categories that welcomes 3D features, screenplays, and environmental projects, SPIFF celebrates the cultural diversity of Los Angeles, as well as the city's robust history of film production. SPIFF also proudly supports community programs that help young filmmakers develop the skills needed to achieve their aspirations. No matter what your cinematic interest, SPIFF invites you to discuss, enjoy, and champion some of the best films on the international circuit. Submit today!

CHRISTIAN LIFE
INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Thamesville, Ontario - Canada
September 21 to September 22, 2013
Upcoming Deadline: August 15, 2013

The 1st Annual Christian Life International Film Festival (CLIFF) champions unforgettable films that prompt a deeply emotional response from their audiences. Although CLIFF is a Christian-themed festival that promotes and exalts Christian values, submitted projects are not required to reference Christianity -- they just need to be great stories that engage hearts and minds. Cash prizes will be presented to the festival's Best Short, Best Animated Film, Best Documentary, Best Music Video, and Most Popular Film. At its core, CLIFF aims to both "touch and teach" its audiences with clean, thoughtful, well-crafted productions.

CLIFF will screen Christian-oriented films with deep meanings, powerful messages, and run times between 5 and 30 minutes. Submitted projects should be "G" or "PG" rated, and selected films will be screened at a collection of Thamesville churches that will also be offering worship services on the Sunday morning of the festival. Film lovers in search of a creative, inquisitive, and social Christian community will thrill at all that can be found and enjoyed at CLIFF. Submit your work, and enjoy a stellar weekend of fun and film!

In the Spotlight today is the 3rd Annual Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival (NWOFF), a cultural alternative to the commercial film experience. A warm, inviting, and casual platform on which to celebrate community, ingenuity, and the collaborative art of cinema, NWOFF is proud to welcome talented independent filmmakers from across Ohio and the world. Each film selected for the festival will receive two complimentary VIP all-access passes, and each selected filmmaker will have the opportunity to engage directly with audience members by way of a post-screening Q&A. Workshop and panel participation may also be offered, for those filmmakers who seek additional opportunities to create and nurture new relationships.

NWOFF offers a range of cash prizes and honors in competitive categories including Outstanding Director, Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Actress, Outstanding Screenplay, Outstanding Editing, Outstanding Original Score, and Outstanding Cinematography. A Grand Prix Award of $1,000 USD will be granted to the year's best film.

Unfolding against the sun-drenched, relaxing backdrop of one of America's favorite vacation destinations, FLIFF is littered with beach lodging, networking opportunities, and stellar screenings for discerning film fans. For more than two decades, the festival has helped countless filmmakers secure funding and publicity from local producers and Hollywood professionals alike. Films that play in Fort Lauderdale will also play at satellite events in Pompano Beach, Sunrise, Delray Beach, Davie, and Hollywood.

FLIFF filmmakers will receive all-access passes to festival events, including the Whole Foods Festival Café, the Filmmaker Dinner, The Chairman's Cruise and Brunch, and more. Travel support is included on a case-by-case basis and includes full room and board on an overnight cruise, a private waterfront suite at the Pelican Bay Resort, and return airfare. Guests will bask in the lap of luxury while enjoying a remarkable roster of A-List talents that has included Michael Caine, Sir Ben Kingsley, Matt Damon, John Waters, and Martin Scorsese. Other big names, including Michael Moore, Christina Applegate, and Jeremy Renner all appeared early in their careers at FLIFF -- and Michael Moore has returned three times since.

FLIFF's compelling array of competitive categories includes Best Film, Best Documentary, Best Short, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Ensemble, Best College Animation, Best High School Video, and more. Multiple juried awards are up for the taking, and the entire festival is proud to foster a spirit of good will, creativity, and casual camaraderie. It's no wonder so many FLIFF guests return, again and again.
