In the Spotlight today is the 15th Bi-annual LA Comedy Film Festival & Screenplay Competition, creating valuable industry traction for filmmakers and screenwriters skilled at generating big laughs. Hosted in the belly of the entertainment capital of the world, LA Comedy Fest regularly attracts some of the biggest names in comedy and provides ample opportunity for gifted storytellers to share their wares on a prominent platform. Over the past 14 seasons, the LA Comedy Fest has featured more than 2,000 performers and more than 1,000 comedic films from across Los Angeles, the United States, and the world. Among the festival's recent alumni success stories are Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney, both of whom joined the 39th season of Saturday Night Live after their success at LA Comedy Fest. Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins, creators-executive producers of ABC's Trophy Wife, also made a splash in the entertainment industry following their recognition at the festival.

In the Spotlight today is the 1st Asia Pacific International Filmmaker Festival & Award (APIFA), an intimate festival with an invigorating global conscience. Welcoming an exciting array of narrative and documentary feature films, short films, and films created by "rising stars" (students and newcomers in the art of filmmaking), APIFA seeks to support and promote the magic of independent filmmaking while extending the reach of great stories throughout the world.

APIFA warmly welcomes great films in a wide variety of genres and is even pleased to consider works in progress. In addition to offering a platform for film promotion, the festival is eager to facilitate international co-productions with talented filmmakers who are either from Asian Pacific regions or who seek to create a film with Asian Pacific themes or locations. In short, APIFA is not just a celebration of fantastic accomplishments, it's setting out to be a launchpad for future achievements yet to be conceived.

In addition to screening more than titles, APIFA will host a variety of career-enhancing film workshops, networking events, and press conferences with the aim of providing gifted filmmakers with as much public visibility and opportunity as possible. Distribution deals will also be made available to select winners, and complimentary lodging will be provided for all festival finalists.

AmDocs seeks to promote a world vision of film as seen through the eyes of the filmmaker.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
First-time and established filmmakers alike are encouraged to submit their works to AmDocs' Film Fund competition, an event separate from, but held within the confines of, the AmDocs festival. Each year, the Film Fund distributes upwards of $50,000 USD to exciting documentary projects. Participants in the Film Fund competition are able to compete for financing for new projects as well as for works in progress. A panel of industry filmmakers will select winning Film Fund projects based on an in-person pitch, detailed story outlines and budgets, five-minute previews of the competing films, and Q&As with the competing filmmakers.
