In the Spotlight today is the 3rd Annual American Documentary Film Festival & Film Fund (AmDocs), one of the largest and most influential celebrations of documentary filmmaking in the United States. Nestled in the sun-drenched resort community of Palm Springs, California, AmDocs regularly draws an exciting array of industry insiders and eager cineastes thirsty for great stories and countless opportunities to mix and mingle with impressive filmmaking talents.
AmDocs proudly champions the works of its participants well after the festival has concluded, and its commitment to excellence recently earned it a place in MovieMaker Magazine's list of the "Top 25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee." As the first documentary-only festival to screen all of its films in top-quality Digital Cinema Projection, AmDocs ensures each filmmaker's work will be viewed in standard studio format and celebrated in its best possible condition. While guests of the festival, participating filmmakers will also receive full complimentary accommodations.
Boasting a steadily growing number of screens and audiences, AmDocs is committed to expanding and nurturing the acceptance of documentary film as a mainstream medium. With a slew of filmmaker seminars, networking mixers, thrilling afterparties, and invigorating discussions to offer amidst its lineup of unforgettable films, AmDocs demonstrates its commitment to the promotion of filmmakers who respect and champion the drama inherent in the world around us.
UPCOMING DEADLINE
January 16, 2014 - Late Deadline
MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
AmDocs seeks to promote a world vision of film as seen through the eyes of the filmmaker.
MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
First-time and established filmmakers alike are encouraged to submit their works to AmDocs' Film Fund competition, an event separate from, but held within the confines of, the AmDocs festival. Each year, the Film Fund distributes upwards of $50,000 USD to exciting documentary projects. Participants in the Film Fund competition are able to compete for financing for new projects as well as for works in progress. A panel of industry filmmakers will select winning Film Fund projects based on an in-person pitch, detailed story outlines and budgets, five-minute previews of the competing films, and Q&As with the competing filmmakers.
