The Oxford Film Festival - one of our favorites.
There are a lot of film festivals here in the South, but we try never to miss the Oxford Film Festival, deep in the heart of Mississippi. Oxford's university-town charm, literary legacy, film-crazy audience, and unbelieveable restaurants (cough cough Big Bad Breakfast cough cough) would be reason enough for any filmmaker to want to play there, but there's something else: it's a festival where you'll make friends.
Whether they're getting into the spirit of Southern hospitality or just sated by generous helpings of gravy and biscuits, the filmmakers and industry reps who come to Oxford always seem to hang out later, talk longer, and smile wider. And they always want to come back.
This year Oxford has decided to forgo the usual Big Brother submissions forms and offer a kinder way to submit (with lower fees). One quick form gives them all the info they need (make sure your film is uploaded as a private screener to Vimeo, YouTube, or similar) and the savings pass on to you.
As a friend of the Atlanta Film Festival, you can use the waiver code atlantaff to get an additional $10 off, so in the case of most shorts you'll only be paying $5 to submit.
This offer expires on September 16th, 2013.
