In the Spotlight today is the 45th Annual Nashville Film Festival (NaFF), furthering a long-standing reputation for excellence and championing some of the best films and filmmakers of today and tomorrow. An Academy-qualifying celebration offering more than $40,000 USD in cash and prizes, NaFF has been named by the Brooks Institute as one of "The Five Best Film Festivals in America" and by MovieMaker Magazine as one of "20 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee." Last year's NaFF hosted more than 27,000 attendees and numerous sold-out screenings and events. This year's festival aims to be even bigger and better.
Blending big-city energy with laid-back Southern hospitality, NaFF proudly presents more than 200 films from more than 40 countries while also boasting an exciting array of industry panels, late-night networking parties, and unforgettable live music that's truly the heart and soul of Nashville. After all, it is the "Music City," a place to which all manner of artists go to be discovered. At NaFF, films compete not only in traditional categories, but also in areas including music composition, music supervision, and more, creating a festival that truly honors the eyes, ears, mind, and heart alike.
Winners of NaFF's Short Narrative and Animation categories are automatically eligible for Academy Awards consideration -- a benefit that means this festival may just be the start of a life-changing adventure. Additional independently juried categories include prizes for Best LGBT Film, Best Film by a Black Filmmaker, Best Hispanic Film, and Best Film by a Female Filmmaker. At NaFF, just as in its home city of Nashville, diversity and creativity are celebrated and indispensible.
