In the Spotlight today is the 6th Annual LA Comedy Shorts (and LA Comedy Scripts) (LACS), an impressive epicenter for all things funny, conveniently situated right in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Honoring a hilarious blend of comedic short films and comedic scripts of any length, LACS routinely draws some of the biggest names in the funny business -- as well as high-powered agents, managers, and producers on the hunt for "the next big thing."
Now more than ever, entertainment companies need content creators who can bring the goods, and LACS makes great comedy easy to find and celebrate. Recently named among MovieMaker's "Top 5 Comedy Film Festivals for 2013," and listed among The Brooks Institute's "Top 10 Festivals in the United States," LACS draws sponsorship and support from Funny or Die, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central's Atom TV, and other impressive channels that can connect talented writers, filmmakers, and comics with the audiences they deserve.
Cash, prize packages, and industry meetings are available to LACS winners, but the biggest benefit for all participants is the exposure needed to launch or enhance careers. In previous years, winning scripts and films have been requested by HBO, CAA, ICM, Disney, Universal, Gersh Agency, and other industry powerhouses. To date, more than a dozen filmmakers and writers have scored development deals after appearing at LACS.
UPCOMING DEADLINE
December 17, 2013 - Late Deadline
MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
LACS is dedicated to getting talented comedic writers and filmmakers noticed by industry forces that can make careers happen.
