In the Spotlight today is the 3rd Annual Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (JDIFF), a four-day celebration of independent film that's awash in special events, networking opportunities, and media access. Recently named one of MovieMaker Magazine's "Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World", JDIFF draws upon the rich artistic history of the American Midwest and unfolds in the famed Hotel Julien, the very location where Al Capone sought refuge from federal prosecution.

JDIFF presents its winners with cash prizes in a wide range of categories including Best Documentary ($8,000 USD), Best Actor ($2,000), Best Actress ($2,000), Best Use of Music in a Film ($3,000), and a Grand Jury Prize of $10,000. JDIFF's jury is comprised of music supervisors, cinematographers, film critics, and other working professionals who know great filmmaking. Official Selections at the festival will enjoy not only exceptional public exposure, but also partial reimbursement of their respective submission fees.

If they are nominees in any of the festival's six categories, filmmakers behind JDIFF's Official Selections will receive complimentary airfare, accommodations, and meals throughout their visit to Dubuque. Additionally, these filmmakers will have numerous opportunities to visit with festival jury members, distributors, and guests at a private event.

UPCOMING DEADLINE
December 12, 2013 - Regular Deadline

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
JDIFF acknowledges emerging filmmakers from around the world and places a strong emphasis on the discovery and encouragement of new talent.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
JDIFF proudly honors cause-related documentaries and narrative films and selects one to be showcased for the festival's Honorary Chair as part of JDIFF's "Cause We Can" program. This program works to raise funds for the cause associated with the selected film.

Last year, the festival honored Gary Busey and held a "Cause We Can" event for the Gary Busey Foundation while raising awareness of, and money for the treatment of, Kawasaki Disease.

Whether your film advances awareness of an important cause, explores an extraordinary story, or is fueled by your own imagination, JDIFF wants to see it. Submit your work today!
