In the Spotlight today is the 4th Annual Blue Ocean Film Festival & Conservation Summit, a festival with the power and the passion to help make the world a better place. A dynamic, thought-provoking week of conservation-focused films and special events, BLUE brings together scientists, conservationists, cineastes, and technological leaders to address complex and compelling questions and to facilitate international outreach. Attendees are mentored on cutting-edge developments in visual media that could change the very nature of global exploration.
BLUE's seven-day schedule of panels, films, and networking opportunities aims to be both intellectually enriching and creatively stimulating. The festival offers an expanding collection that regularly draws industry executives, scientific leaders, and celebrities alike. The festival is also proud to host a state-of-the-art conference that melds the worlds of cinema and science and includes a signature "blue carpet" awards ceremony and gala.
Winners of BLUE's custom-made bronze sculptures (valued at more than $500 USD each) will have the option of being included in BLUE On Tour, an outreach initiative that spreads stellar films and a message of conservation around the globe. Previous BLUE successes have even gone on to win the Academy Award -- just ask the filmmakers behind The Cove, who took home BLUE's "Best of the Festival" Award in 2009.
